North Wales Police support local Dementia Café

Local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Dave Madden has recently presented a cash donation to a dementia café held at All Saints Church in Deganwy. Funds were raised in a raffle ticket event previously and so PCSOs decided to donate the money to a venture that supports the community.

The café benefits the community as it is not just for those living with dementia, but for their relatives and carers too. This encourages peer support in the community and provides a good opportunity to share stories and experiences in a safe and friendly environment.

Local PCSOs will support the café by attending the church meet-ups. North Wales Police are committed to protecting and supporting those in the community who may be vulnerable or face difficulty communicating issues important to them. Community events such as this are a great way for PCSOs to remain a familiar face in the area as well as being accessible if a member of the public would like to chat to them about something.

The donation was presented to Cllr Julie Fallon, who runs the café, who greatly appreciated the funds and said that the money would be put towards running the café and memory equipment such as games for café goers.

The next Dementia Café will be held Monday 7th May between 10:30am-12:30pm and usually run on the first Monday of each month.
