4G Pitch Work Started

Work started on a new 4G pitch at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay this week.

Contractors McArdle Sport Tec began work at the site adjacent to the boating lake, and the pitch will be completed in the autumn.

It’s hoped the new facility will attract professional sports teams, who will use the pitch for training. The 4G pitch will also be used by schools for tournaments, extending the season for sports.

The all-weather surface will ease demands on the main arena pitch within Stadiwm Zip World.

Cllr Mark Baker is Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Development Services:

“This will be another first-class facility at Parc Eirias,” he said.

“As a regional centre of sporting excellence, the 4G pitch will enhance Conwy’s facilities as a major sports and entertainment venue and is central to our regeneration strategy for Colwyn Bay.”
